=============================

Note of thanks from Laura:

I would like to say a big thank you to all the ladies who
came to the pasta day in Achnasheen on 17th March.

I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

Thanks to Tracy

and Delia for advertising the event on the West Coast, a
special thanks to Gwynedd for the lovely card she sent me,
and also to Sally, Anne, Marie, Hilda, Brenda, Barbara, Sue, Janice
and Eleanor for coming along.

A huge thank you to Gill for the
support and help - she soldiered through the day even though not
feeling very well. And, last, but not least, a BIG thank you to Michelle
who “volunteered” to do the washing up!!

I wonder how many of you have already had a go at pasta
making at home? I wish the next pasta day to be as good as
this one.

Thank you!
Laura

Wester Ross Alliance AGM

The Wester Ross Alliance was originally set up with one primary objective “to bring together the residents and organisations of Wester Ross to promote the sustainable development of the area as a prosperous and socially inclusive place where all may enjoy a high-quality of life, well-being and self-confidence, now and for generations to come.”

Wester Ross Alliance has been selected as the Local Area Partnership for Highland LEADER, Ward 6 area with a £825,702 funding allocation. As a result the alliance is widening its boundary area, with invitation to membership now open. Each organisation can nominate one named representative, with applications for membership presented at the AGM, where board members shall also be elected. Application forms are available on request or can de downloaded at
http://www.wester-ross-alliance.co.uk

The Wester Ross Alliance AGM is to be held on Thursday at 26th March at 5pm in Kinlochewe Village hall.

A development plan for the area is currently being compiled to highlight the needs and aspirations of the community to help assess/approve projects. Project categories can relate to Development planning and community capacity building; Culture & Heritage; Training & Learning Opportunities; Access to Facilities & Services; Land; Environment & Access to Countryside; Renewables; Tourism; Social enterprise & micro businesses

Wester Ross Alliance hopes to establish through community consultation - identified needs and opportunities in the community; views on priorities; issues to be addressed and examples of potential projects that may apply for Leader monies. Fiona Downie, Manager for Wester Ross Alliance said “I hope to reach as many people as I can in this community consultation. A start has been made via agencies working in each area and all community councils have been contacted for input. I hope to follow this up with a survey in each of the 20 community council areas to enable individuals to contribute. I will endeavour to gain as much information as possible, which will not only assist in any decision making the board has to make with relation to leader applications but as a resource that can be used in the wider community”

Fiona Downie can be contacted at the Wester Ross Alliance office at Unit 2, Achtercairn, Gairloch, Wester-Ross IV21 2BH, mailto:wester.ross@highland.gov.uk or telephone 01445 712918
