In the September issue of the Achnasheen and Garve News & Views, we will be launching a new initiative "Friends of News & Views" this, we hope, will raise much needed funds, to enable us to trade-in the current community photocopier/printer, which due to age is increasingly breaking down, and the quality, especially photographs, is rapidly deteriorating.
To kick-start this initiative we are writing to all local land-owners and businesses to ask for help to raise in the region of £5,500.
Currently the newsletter is put together by our editor (Jackie), hard copies are then forwarded to me, which I then run through the machine, collate and sort into batches, ready for our network of volunteers to distribute free, to every household in the community. ALL work is carried out by volunteers.
Local hotels, post offices and shops take copies of the newsletter which they then sell; we have a number of ongoing postal subscriptions, which with the advertising, helps fund the cost of printing and upkeep of the machine.
So how can you help?
To become a 'friend' you can:
* Set up a direct debit, and pledge a fixed annual amount, which will go towards the annual running costs.
* Make a one-off donation, which will be put towards the initial cost of the new printer.
All 'friends' will be acknowledged in the newsletter and on the website, unless you wish to remain anonymous.
The newsletter plays an important role within our scattered community.
We would be grateful for your help, any amount would make a difference - contact me for more details.
